Dear Prospective Member

This is your invitation to become part of the network of professionals dedicated towards the promotion of Industrial/Occupational Hygiene in the workplace and community. AIHA Manitoba was established in 1986, and is one of over 70 local sections of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). Our membership is comprised of occupational hygienists, safety professionals, occupational health physicians, ergonomists, environmental engineers, consultants, health & safety equipment suppliers; and others who have interests in occupational health, safety or environmental issues. AIHA Manitoba serves members in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

The benefits of AIHA Manitoba membership include establishing contacts with professionals involved with Occupational Hygiene, opportunities to actively participate on a variety of our committees, and opportunities to express your views on key issues relating to Occupational Hygiene.

AIHA Manitoba courses and workshops, ranging from half-a-day to 3 days in length, provide cutting-edge information on a variety of Industrial Hygiene issues. Speakers have included David Gaylor, President, Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienist; Dr. Ted Redekop, Chief Occupational Medical Officer, Manitoba Labour; Dr. Vicky Wells, Director of Epidemiology, City of Cincinnati; John Mulhausen, CIH, 3M Company; Dr. Ernest Mastromatteo, American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists Threshold Limit Values Committee; Dr. Ray Copes, Medical Specialist in Environmental Risk Assessment and Toxicology, B.C. Ministry of Health; Tom Farrell, Deputy Minister, Manitoba Labour; Christopher Moore, Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety; Gyan Rajhans, Chairman, ACGIH; and Steve Stone, National AIHA.

Through AIHA Manitoba, you can apply for membership in the National AIHA. While you are not required to be a National member to join AIHA Manitoba, prospective members are encouraged to apply for National membership, as National membership is a requirement for election to certain executive positions within the Manitoba section. AIHA National membership information and application forms can also be obtained by contacting me.

I sincerely hope that you will decide to become a member of AIHA Manitoba. After all, the strength and effectiveness of an association depends solely upon its membership. Please give me a call if you require further information. I look forward to hearing from you!
