Who is AIHA?

AIHA is the association for scientists and professionals committed to preserving and ensuring occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) in the workplace and community. Founded in 1939, we support our members with our expertise, networks, comprehensive education programs, and other products and services that help them maintain the highest professional and competency standards. More than half of AIHA's nearly 8,500 members are Certified Industrial Hygienists, and many hold other professional designations. AIHA serves as a resource for those employed across the public and private sectors and the communities in which they work.

Our Vision: A world where all workers and their communities are healthy and safe.

What is a Local Section?

Local section is the term used by AIHA to designate regional chapters. AIHA, the premier occupational health and safety association, has over 60 local sections throughout the United States, and 6 international sections across multiple continents. The Ohio Valley Local Section serves the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky areas. As well, it is the only local section in the State of Ohio. The purpose of our local section is to:

  • Protect the health and safety of workers and the community
  • Increase knowledge of industrial hygiene and occupational health and safety in a specific region
  • Promote the profession and cooperate with government, industrial, educational, and other professional bodies
  • Share a concern about the health of workers worldwide as well as the special concerns of a regional area

Our Mission: Empowering and advancing those who apply scientific knowledge to protect all workers and their communities from occupational and environmental hazards.
