Sacramento Valley-AIHA Local Section

2022
President’s Message

My president’s message from 2021 was so hopeful that we’d be meeting in person in 2021. While 2021 had a rough start, my 2022 message will again be hopeful. In 2022, I hope we have more meetings in person, with a Zoom option for those that prefer that method. We also have a couple of happy hours planned for the summer and fall. Get vaccinated and boosted and come join us!

As always, we are looking for your participation. If you are interested in helping the local section in any capacity, please let me know. We are looking for locations for an IH tour this summer/fall. Know a facility that will let a bunch of health and safety professionals do a walkthrough? Have you heard an especially good technical presentation recently we should invite to our next meeting? Let me know! Your ideas are always welcome, so please reach out.

And last, but not least, we are in need of a president-elect for our local section! There are no prerequisites other than being a member of AIHA National as well as the local section. This is an excellent opportunity to be in a leadership role for our local IH community and learn from the best (our current Board members)! No one on the local section Board does their job alone – we are a team. A perk of being local section president-elect is the opportunity to attend AIHA’s annual leadership conference (expenses paid).

David Hornung, MPH, CIH

Volunteer Opportunities!

Calling all local section members to assist with short-term volunteer opportunities! As part of our mission to enhance involvement with local section activities and to improve communication with all members, the Board is recruiting volunteers for the following activities:

  • Assisting with social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. and teaming up Patrick Corcoran;
  • Assisting with the upcoming events and teaming up with the AIHA-SVC Board members;
  • Assisting with obtaining Corporate Sponsorships to enhance the technical sessions for our local section;
  • Assisting with CIHC Summit in March 2021 and teaming up with Pam Murcell and Roxanne Fynboh;
  • Reaching out to long time local section members to re-engage them with our local section.
