Workplace Violence Prevention Plans

As you enter there will be a security desk to check in. The room is located just across from security. Signs will be posted on the day of the meeting.

Description: "Workplace Violence Prevention Plans", new requirement of SB 553 and Labor Code 6401.9

Presenter: Rachel L. Conn, Partner and Chair of Conn Maciel Carey LLP’s California Practice. She is based out of the firm’s San Francisco office. Rachel’s practice focuses on OSH compliance and litigation, including inspections, audits, investigations, and enforcement actions involving Cal/OSHA, Fed OSHA, and other State OSH Plans. She also represents employers and trade associations in Cal/OSHA and Fed OSHA rulemakings. Previously, Rachel was a partner and led the national OSHA Practice at an AmLaw 100 law firm.

Rachel also has extensive experience developing and implementing workplace violence prevention plans and response programs for some of the country’s largest employers. She has counseled employers on hundreds of workplace violence incidents, and defended healthcare systems and skilled nursing facilities against Cal/OSHA citations issued under Cal/OSHA’s precursor Violence Prevention in Health Care Rule (on which SB 553 was originally based). She is also a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals where she speaks and trains members on these topics regularly.

SMUD COVID-19 Meeting Guidance

In an effort to minimize the potential spread of COVID-19, each attendee using meeting & training rooms must follow SMUD’s safety protocols which include;

  • Perform a wellness check prior to the event, and do not attend if you are experiencing any COVID related symptoms
  • Use approved sanitization supplies to wipe down surfaces used by each attendee
  • Practice physical distancing when possible
  • Maintain good hygiene and use available hand sanitizer stations
  • Follow all posted signs
  • Limit over-crowding the space
