Lunch and Technical Presentation: Pesticide Regulation in California

Description: The presentation covers early pesticide use and materials, the advent of regulatory “oversight” (largely product quality regulations); rudimentary health and safety laws in response to poisoning; development of synthetic pesticides; USDA authority over pesticide registration, FIFRA and the creation of US EPA taking over pesticide registration and standardizing pesticide labels; CDFA’s pesticide division expands into health and environment via CEQA; the formation of Cal/EPA and the removal of pesticide control from CDFA to the newly created DPR; expansion of DPRs scope of operation; updating safety regulations, total use reporting; FQPA and the risk cup; and the future of pesticide use and regulation.
Cost: Local section member $20 including lunch; non-member $30 including lunch; $5 without lunch; students free.

SMUD COVID-19 Meeting Guidance
In an effort to minimize the potential spread of COVID-19, each attendee using meeting & training rooms must follow SMUD’s safety protocols which include;
- Perform a wellness check prior to the event, and do not attend if you are experiencing any COVID related symptoms
