History

Founded in 1950, the AIHA Utah Local Section empowers health and safety professionals across Utah "to protect all workers and their communities from occupational and environmental hazards" through shared community and resources. Learn more about the work of OEHS professionals and AIHA here.

Annual Events

AIHA Connect This annual meeting is hosted by AIHA National, allowing professionals nationwide to connect and learn.

The 2026 conference will be hosted in New Orleans, LA from June 1-3. Reduced advance rates apply through March 29th; register early!
Reduced fees apply for Early Career Professionals, Students, and single-day attendees, along with other discounts for Group, Stay and Save, or Virtual registrations.

Utah Annual Conference on Safety and Industrial Hygiene This 2-day professional development conference is co-hosted by four OEHS professional orgs in Utah each Fall.

The 2026 conference will be hosted October 7 (Short Courses) and October 8-9. See the host website for updates and more information!

Local Section Holiday Meeting Held annually in December to award outstanding student scholarships, collect food drive donations, review local section business, and transition leadership.

Leadership

Our officers consist of a Past President (1-year term), President (1-year term), President-Elect (1-year term), Secretary (2-year term), and Treasurer (2-year term). These officers make up the Executive Committee, which plans and executes section operations.

We have 3 directors at large, each serving a staggered 3 year term. Along with the section officers, these leaders make up the Board of Directors, which hold all local section authority. You can find more information about each position in the section bylaws.

Local Section Volunteer Committees are another opportunity to get involved as a committee chair, project lead, or general member.
