About the AIHA Gulf Coast Local Section

The local sections of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) are the grassroots of the association. The mission of the Gulf Coast Section is to promote the purposes of the AIHA. The Gulf Coast Section's area includes counties in Texas from Port Lavaca to Beaumont, and Galveston to College Station.

The purposes of AIHA are to:
1. Promote the field of industrial hygiene
2. Provide education and training
3. Provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information
4. Represent the interests of industrial hygienists and those they serve.

The Gulf Coast Section has approximately 135 members. Nationally, AIHA membership exceeds 11,800. Regular meetings of the Gulf Coast membership are held on the first Thursday of every month in conjunction with the local ASSE Chapter.

The Texas Industrial Hygiene Council (TIHC) is a state governmental affairs organization which is co-sponsored by the local sections of the AIHA in Texas. The TIHC offers the opportunity to impact local and state legislative issues.
